The Adam Practice is a sessional research active practice. This means that we conduct different levels of research to benefit our patients. We have a dedicated Research Team, led by Lead Research Nurse Rebecca (Becks) Cutts and Principal investigator, Dr Patrick Moore. We offer patients the opportunity to take part in a wide variety of research trials.
The trials are either funded by the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) or by commercial companies. We work with the Local Wessex Clinical Research Network (CRN) who helps support us in the running of research trials. We also work closely with other surgeries within the local Primary Care Network to help them deliver safe and effective research.

The Adam Practice Research Team also contributes to the large scale studies being carried out at the Dorset Research Hub (DRH) located at Bournemouth Hospital. The hub was developed as a result of needing rapid set up of urgent health care research studies during the pandemic. It is now an established centre where research staff from all over Wessex come together to run covid vaccine research and will also be utilised for non covid studies in the future. The Adam Practice research team are integral to the function of the DRH with the set up having been led by Dr Patrick Moore and Lead Nurse Becks Cutts. Patients from The Adam Practice are also given the opportunity of being part of research being carried out at the DRH.

What is Clinical Research?
Research is something that is relevant to everyone and explores our current understanding or seeks to discover new knowledge about health conditions and treatment. Everyone who takes part in a research trial is a volunteer. If you decide to take part in a study and then wish to withdraw at any time, your care will not be affected in any way.
In the past, research largely took place in hospitals but we are now also gaining huge knowledge from studies being carried out in community settings like The Adam Practice. We recruit into many studies that could involve taking a medication, trying out a new device for certain illness or simply completing questionnaires. The variety of studies help us to find answers to questions that will benefit the wider population by improving treatments for chronic diseases, reducing exacerbations of illnesses, preventing hospital admissions and improving overall quality of life for people.
It is important to us that our patients at The Adam Practice are given the opportunity to be involved in high-quality research. This means that all the studies we offer follow strict guidelines to ensure your safety and wellbeing.
If you would like to contact the team to enquire about any of the studies we have running, please email: [email protected]

Please note this is a voicemail service for non-urgent enquires. Please leave a message and return contact number and we will return your call
