Alert – Norovirus (Vomiting bug)

The Norovirus, also known as the vomiting bug, is currently spreading more than usual in the community. There are two types of the virus, so it’s possible to get sick from it more than once.

Most people feel better after about 3 days (72 hours).

How to Care for Yourself:

  • Stay at home and rest
  • Drink plenty of fluids to stay hydrated – over the counter rehydration salts can help
  • Avoid preparing food for others while you’re unwell.
  • Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water — alcohol gel doesn’t work as well against this virus.

If you’re worried about babies, young children, or anyone who is vulnerable, please contact us for advice.
