Due to the current Covid-19 pandemic we have limited capacity to see patients face to face.
For this reason all patients will have a telephone appointment with a clinician in the first instance.
You may then be asked to attend a face to face appointment by the clinician if they decide it is clinically appropriate.
Please use our Surgery Pod in the waiting area to check your blood pressure or weight.
SystmOnline allows you to book and cancel appointments online, at your convenience. You will need a unique username and password to log in. This can be generated by our reception staff, so please ask at reception to register for online services.
The Practice offers a wide range of appointments which can be booked in advance by up to several weeks if required.
If you need to be seen soon we will offer an appointment within 2 working days with the next available Health Care Professional (HCP); be it Doctor, Nurse Practitioner, Nurse or other HCP. If your problem is very urgent the receptionist will ensure you are seen on the same day although in both instances we cannot guarantee that you will be seen by your usual practitioner or at a specified time due to demand.
If you are unable to keep your appointment please let reception know as soon as possible.
The Practice has been experiencing a higher than usual number of DNA appointments recently and in 2015 we had a total of nearly 7000 appointments missed (or in time virtually 1 years’ worth of a GPs' time!). The Practice Patient Participation Group has been looking into ways in which we can reduce these so that the appointments are available to other patients to use.
We are now writing to all patients who do not attend appointments and if they persistently miss booked appointments they will be removed from the practice list and asked to find an alternative surgery. We understand that some patients are unable to attend for valid reasons and do provide a number of ways in which you can contact the practice to let us know and re-open the appointment – i.e. via telephone, text and online.
Please work with us to reduce these missed appointments so that we can provide a better service to you our patients.
If you would like a Chaperone present during your consultation, please advise at reception when booking your appointment or when checking in or alternatively speak to your clinician at any time during your appointment and they will either arrange for a chaperone to be present or re-arrange your appointment for when one is available.
The practice issues nearly half a million prescription items every year, so naturally we get lots of requests for consultations about clinical aspects of medication.
The Adam Practice is very fortunate to have a Clinical Pharmacist in our team who is highly trained as a medicine expert. We have therefore created a telephone and face-to-face appointment service for them to deal with most questions regarding your medication, instead of seeing a GP.
Examples of when you would see a Clinical Pharmacist include
Feeling unwell since starting new tablet
Advice on medication changes made by a specialist
Repeat medication reviews
We have instructed our staff to utilise these appointments, so if you are booked into see a pharmacist for your medication query, please respect our clinical decision.
Thank you very much for your co-operation.
“I received excellent service from the clinical pharmacist, having arranged a telephone consultation. All my medication was painstakingly reviewed and I cannot rate this service more highly. This is a brilliant addition to the practice and will presumably allow the GPs more time to deal with patients.” - source: NHS Choices
"Just been helped by the Adam practice pharmacist, I understand this is a recent addition to the practice and seems to work well, Its worth patients reading about what it provides using the online description. Certainly from a patients point of view I believe it will be very useful once its realised what its about." - source: NHS Choices
