We are now working even closer with local pharmacies who can see and treat patients for seven additional specific health concerns, as well as minor ailments, without the need to see a GP first.
These conditions include:
- earache (for those aged between 1 and 17),
- impetigo,
- infected insect bites,
- shingles,
- sinusitis,
- sore throat
- urinary tract infections (UTIs) for women aged 16-64 years.
We are now actively referring patients to local pharmacies, where appropriate. On receiving a Klinik submission from a patient it will be triaged by our experienced clinical team of Doctors, Nurses and Paramedics. Where pharmacy care is most appropriate, we will send a referral directly to the pharmacy on the patients behalf and then contact the patient with instructions to follow.
However, patients can also directly walk into a local pharmacy for advice or treatment for any of these conditions, or call with any queries, without contacting a GP first.
Pharmacists have the right clinical training to make sure you get the help you need and can also signpost you to, A&E or other relevant local service, where necessary.
This greatly reduces the need for multiple appointments for a patient, who can be seen and receive treatment in one setting.
Pharmacies are being funded by the NHS to provide this service and are very happy to support primary care with this enhanced role.
Below shows the many clinical services available to patients when they submit a Klinik form to the Practice, including pharmacy referrals. Our clinicians will determine the best pathway for you, to ensure you are seen at the right time by the right person.
