Your sample should be done no sooner than 12 weeks after your vasectomy.
Before producing the sample, you should have had at least 24 ejaculations. This helps to clear any remaining sperm from the system.
For the best sample, you should ideally have ejaculated 2 to 7 days beforehand.
Your sample will be examined at Poole Hospital.
If you live nearby, you may be able to produce it at home and take it directly to the laboratory. It must be examined within 50 minutes of being produced.
If you live further away, you can produce the sample at the laboratory, where a private room is available.
You will need to contact the laboratory yourself at the number below to arrange the sample.

Usually, only one sample is needed, but occasionally a repeat sample is required.
Once the sample has been processed, you will usually receive the result by email, together with information about what to do if there are any irregularities.
If you have not received your result within 4 weeks, please email The Adam Practice vasectomy team.
Keep using contraception until The Adam Practice gives you the all clear.
